Senior Dog Taken to Shelter and Too Scared To Look at Anyone Really Breaks Hearts

Recently a tear-jerking video of a stray dog went viral after he avoiding eye-contact at al costs.

The video was filmed in Fort Worth Animal Care and Control Shelter by DeeAnn Skinner, a volunteer based in Texas. The clip was later shared to TikTok account @thefarnetwork, where it amassed over 30000 views.

 

 

The heartbreaking video shows the 11-year-old dog lying on the ground facing a wall. The on-screen text says: “He wouldn’t move until he was alone.”

Skinner told Newsweek: “Getting bigger dogs to safety is a challenge but thankfully, he is now safe with a new foster.”

Skinner told Newsweek the dog was on stray hold for three days.

She said: “He warmed up to me on his second day.” His stray hold was finished by November 10, she added: “We didn’t want him to spend another night in the shelter.”

“I’m so happy that somebody finally stepped up to foster him and I am praying he finds a forever home soon,” she told Newsweek.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, that every year over than 6.3 million pets are surrendered to U.S. shelters, which is an average of 17,260 or more a day.

Around 920,000 surrendered animals are euthanized each year. Shelters are striving to reduce euthanasia rates by promoting adoption campaigns, spaying and neutering programs, and behavior rehabilitation.

 

 

However, the footage has over 7,230 likes and more than 1,350 comments.

“This is heartbreaking just needs a human to love,” said one user.

Another comment said: “This poor baby. Does not deserve to die in a shelter.”

“This is so freaking heart breaking poor baby I hope he gets adopted to a loving and caring home,” begged another.

Another user pleaded: “he deserves more than this. all the best to you sweetness”
